I can't believe November is almost over already. It has been a fun filled month for me. I had the 2nd week of November off for vacation, but no real plans for the week. I decided that I wanted to go to Austin, TX to visit Christy. I talked Dominique into going with me. W had a lot of fun. I had never been to Austin besides just passing through. It is a really cool city! You should go check it out if you ever get the chance. Here are a few pic's from my trip.
Me and Dom on our way.
Lunch at a fun little pizza place. It was really good.
Sooo... there is this trailer that sells cupcakes on the side of the road. Apparently it is always there because everyone knows about it and the line went around the corner.
We went to this cool little park that has a butterfly garden!
This is me in this little bamboo hut that was at the park.
There was a lot more to the trip, but you get the picture. We did a lot of shopping and touristing and such. It was a great time. We were only in Austin for a couple of days. I spent the rest of my week off just hanging out with friends and watching movies and stuff. It was just nice to be off work!
A couple of weeks ago I went the the Women of Faith conference with my mom. It was really good as it always is. It was also nice to spend some time with my mom. I don't get to do that often enough. Here we are at the conference.
Basketball season has started here at Hillsdale. Last weekend we went to a couple of games against a team from New Mexico... I am not quite sure why there were here... maybe they were just using their Thanksgiving break to travel around and play. Anyways, the team was pretty rough and it made for a couple of interesting games. Denny had to break up a fight after one of the games. I was a little worried that he was going to get hit. Here we are at one of the games.
So the biggest news of the month for me was when my brother called me and told me that I am going to be an aunt. That is right friends... my little brother and his wife are going to have a baby. CRAZY! I am excited for them, but I wish they were not all the way in Chicago. It appears as though there is another baby wave going on. I also have a cousin who is pregnant and at least 6 friends who are preggo. Wonder who will be next?
Denny and I are still house hunting... as usual. We thought that we found one last week only to find out that it went under contract the day we were scheduled to go look at it. We will press on. The semester is almost over and I know that Denny is ready for Christmas break. He talked me into putting up the Christmas tree like 2 weeks ago. So much for one holiday at a time. We did have a good Thanksgiving though. We went to my parents house in Ada and had lots of food with the fam. Not a lot of family was there, but we still had a good time and good food.
Ok, well that is enough for now I suppose. Hope all is well with all of you!

Material Girl

see relatedAnother busy busy weekend, but lots of fun. On Friday night after work Denny and I decided that we would skip the parties and have a low key evening. We went to dinner at a newer restaurant here in Moore. The food was good and it is always interesting to see people just walking around in their costumes this time of year. One of the waiters was dressed as Batman... good times. Here we are having fun people watching:
After dinner we went to our favorite local video rental store, Movies Ect. and rented a couple of classic monster films:
Unfortunately by the time we finished Frankenstein we were tired and never quite got to his bride. Oh well. We tried.
Saturday was my sister, Haley's 23rd birthday and she was having a big party that evening. She asked me to come over early in the day to help her get ready for the festivities. We had a good time hanging out. Here we are at CD Warehouse shopping for some classic Madonna and Michael Jackson CD's:
Haley got a birthday kiss for the golden music man.
This is the awesome bejeweled counter at CD Warehouse. Now it was time to Party. It was a 60's,70's,80's,and 90's party so the costumes were quite diverse. There was music, food, dancing, karaoke, and just about anything else you wanted to do. Here are a few pics from the evening:
I'm pretty sure I once had that same dress...
With my cousin Stephanie
Thats right I fit 23 candles in one cookie.
Jodi, Brandon, and Wes in their sweet 90's costumes.I do believe that good times were had by all.
Well, I hope that you all have a great week. I am attempting to blog more often, but no promises....
OH, by the way... just a reminder... Don't forget to vote tomorrow!!! Your vote matters. Don't waste it!

Young Frankenstein
By Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman
see relatedLife has been so crazy as of late! A few weeks ago I was asked to be the new Hillsdale DTK EBB (Hillsdale's version of a Fraternity/Sorority) sponsor. I was not sure at first as I know this will take a lot of time and work, but finally I decided that I would do it. As some of you may remember, I myself was in EEL GET so this was going to be a little different. Since the semester was already more than half way over at this point I hit the ground running. Last week we elected officers and had a pining in one night. This week we had a Fright Night at my place and I managed to pack like 30 college students into my living room to watch Young Frankenstein. I think that everyone had a good time though (I hope). Here are a couple of pics of some of the students before we started the movie:
Saturday we went to Dustin and Shyla's wedding. The wedding went great, and it was great to see so many friends! Sunday night was our church's annual Trunk or Treat. This year I decided to dress up 80's style. My husband on the other hand feels it necessary to dress up as the most ridiculous thing he can think of year after year. Some of you may remember last year when he was a cereal killer and I was a pirate:
Well this year he did not fail to fall in line. He was a Dirty Laundry Basket. That's right friends, he is actually in the basket:
(sorry, I don't know how to turn it)
Here I am with Emily and Caleb the lion.
Another one of me and Caleb (He so cute in that costume!).Well, we had a good time (even if my date was wearing our laundry, lol). Today is Halloween, but I am not quite sure what we are going to do this evening... we have a couple of options, but I guess I will just have to fill you in later. Tomorrow night my sister is having a big birthday bash so that should be interesting. It is supposed to be a costume party as well. Good times.

Chariot

see relatedHey friends,
I hope that all is well with all of you. Things are going good here. It seems as though the month of September is flying by! So here are a bunch of random updates in the life of the Kuhn's for ya. Denny and I are still busy house hunting. We did find a house last weekend in Choctaw that we really like a lot and are planning to get with the realtor soon to look into it further... so that is promising. Last weekend my brother and his wife Sara moved to Chicago. They have been feeling for some time now that God was calling them there, but it has just taken a while to get everything in the works. They were very sad to leave their ministry in Ada, but they truly believe that this is what God wants them to do. I am happy for them, but will miss having them around. I can't remember if I ever told you that I have been directing a choirchime choir (like a bell choir, but with bar chimes) at Newcastle church. In stead of continuing with my theory lessons with the children in childrens choir I have been teaching them how to put it into practice by playing the chimes. We had our first performance a couple of Sundays ago. They played the ever so difficult song Kum bai yah. They did a great job. I was proud. This past week at work has been a whirlwind as we have been slammed with claims from Hurricane Ike. It is just incredible the amount of damage this storm has done to so many people. We have been averaging 40,000 calls a day (the previous record amount for one day was 21,000 during hurricane katrina). The amazing thing about it is that we are just one insurance company... there are hundreds of other companies that are getting calls like this as well. It is definitely a humbling experience to talk to person after person who have lost so much and are still without power or jobs or possibly have yet to even be allowed back to their homes to access the damage. I am so thankful that the storm turned and did not hit us. I talked to someone today all the way in Pennsylvania who had a tree through his roof from this same storm. Incredible. On a happier note... the State Fair is in town. Denny and I went to the fair last night and I even talked him into going to the Gavin Degraw concert with me. It was great. He has such an amazing voice, and it is just as good in person. Here is a cell phone pic from the show:
Gavin is the one in the hat (as usual)
So for all my One Tree Hill fan friends out there he ended the concert with, "I don't want to be anything other than what I've been tryin to be lately..." Good stuff.

Well friends, life has been busy as usual. We are back to house hunting so spending time doing that. Denny is busy teaching 19 hours this semester. This is by far the most he has ever had to teach at one time so it is keeping him really busy. I myself did take a mini break from work a few weeks ago and just spent some time with friends and family. One day I went to the OKC Zoo with Cassie and Andrew. Here a few of the highlights:
this one is Drew with the lion
I love these birds
This is Denny's favorite animal
Drew with the gorillas-- he knows all of their names
and a lazy bear
But who needs the zoo to see animals. Denny and I saw this one while house hunting one day:
There was actually a whole family of them, but the pics of the rest of them did not turn out as good.
That weekend I went to the lake with my family: parents, aunts and uncle, cousins... the whole group. We had a lot of fun water skiing and knee boarding and such. It has been a long time since we all did this together. Here is a pic of me and my cousin's daughter Deanne after a long day at the lake (notice the sunburns):
Well, enough for now.... hurricane claims await me.
